For Miami Art Week, we’re excited to be collaborating on the debut of “This Heart, Electric,” a new performance in development by New York Times-featured artists Smita Sen and Trina Basu.
“This Heart, Electric” explores the heart as a life-giving organ, an energy center in South Asian religions, and the site of end-of-life electrical resuscitation. Sen draws from Hindu-Buddhist funerary rituals, Graham technique, and opera vocalizations to examine the heart as an electrical bridge between worlds. Basu’s violin composition evokes the heart’s physical and spiritual dimensions, referencing the Anahata (heart) Chakra, ancient texts, and the heart as a center of compassion.
“This Heart, Electric” will be on view during Miami Art Week 2025 in partnership with BPM Wellness, with an opening performance the evening of December 5, 2025, and two additional performances on December 6 and 7, 2025.
Guests can register for the event by either booking through Eventbrite or contacting Supermarket Gallery directly at hello@supermarketgallery.com
